Your students will love learning about the types of government in the major countries of Latin America with this engaging, no prep reading activity! This is perfect for adding literacy to your social studies curriculum because it’s academically-aligned for ELA and for social studies. Plus, it’s so easy to use that you can even leave it for sub plans!
This resource includes three activity pages and their answer keys. The passage is written at a 6th grade reading level and is accompanied with a compare/contrast graphic organizer, multiple choice activity (4 prompts), a matching activity (4 prompts), and a constructed response prompt. All answer keys are included.
The objective of this activity is for students to be able to describe the two predominant forms of democratic government (parliamentary and presidential) and how these relate to major countries in Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, & Cuba).
This objective and resources aligns with Georgia Standards of Excellence, but can supplement many state standards.

What is the Lexile level of your reading passages?
Since Lexile is trademarked, I am unable to label them as Lexile levels. However, I have used the free Lexile analyzer and I stay within the recommended grade level range. If there is a specific reading packet that you need details for, please contact me directly and I’ll give you a more specific range.
