This resource includes four stations or centers with their answer keys.
The objective of this activity is for students to be able to analyze the benefits of and barriers to voluntary trade in Europe.
- Explain how specialization encourages trade between countries.
- Compare and contrast different types of trade barriers such as tariffs, quotas, and
embargoes. - Explain why international trade requires a system for exchanging currencies between
nations. - Describe the purpose of the European Union and the relationship between member nations.This objective and resources aligns with Georgia Standards of Excellence, but can supplement many state standards.

Resource Includes:
Station 1 (SS6E8, SS6E8c): Gallery Walk Activity with answer key and teacher guide
Station 2 (SS6E8b): Board Game with game cards over both standards, answer keys, and map for reference – no dice needed! Students can play this game as a group, so provide them the answer keys. Have one student ask another the question on the game card and check his/her answer on the answer key. If a student answer correctly, he/she may move one space. If the student does not answer correctly, he/she may not move forward any spaces.
Station 3 (SS6E8a, SS6E8c): 2 Videos with accompanying worksheets and their answer keys. One video covers specialization in Europe, and the other covers currency exchange in Europe.
Station 4 (SS6E8d): Passage over the purpose of the European Union with accompanying worksheet and its answer key.
